Rishabh Pant who was included in India’s World Cup squad as a replacement of injured Shikhar Dhawan showed a lot confidence and positive intent against Bangladesh and scored a solid 48 runs for the team. The 21-year-old Indian cricketer played his second World Cup match on Tuesday and impressed the fans with his batting.

However, Ramakrishnan Sridhar, India’s fielding coach feels that there is still a lot of work that needs to go into Pant and he needs to improve his technique in throwing. Sridhar also admitted that Pant needs to be a little more athletic to be an outfielder. He also added that skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have to use Pant in appropriate fielding positions and keep him at right places at right time. “In the last game against England, he saved at least five runs which is a huge bonus. He took at catch as well,” Sridhar added.

Sridhar also mentioned that Edgbaston ground is a bit like Eden Gardens and it’s all about awareness, once you’re beaten there’s no way that you can chase it. He said that the team may not always get grounds of spherical shape and in such situations, awareness becomes the key.

Indian cricket team that has already fixed their spot in the semi-finals will play their last league match against Sri Lanka on Saturday, July 6 at Headingley Carnegie.
