ICC World Cup 2019: Former Sri Lankan cricketer, Kumar Sangakkara spills the beans on who can break his record
Kumar Sangakkara finally reveals who can break his World record of scoring four consecutive centuries in ODI cricket.
There have been several ODI records set up in the cricket books, but former Sri Lankan Skipper holds the unique record of scoring four straight centuries in One Day Internationals. Sangakkara who led the Sri Lankan team to the finals of World Cup 2011 is the only batsman in the World to score four consecutive ODI tons which he achieved in 2015 World Cup.
However, during his interview with ESPNCricinfo for their 25 Questions segment, Sangakkara revealed that Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli can be the one to break his record. When asked about which player does he think can break the record, he said that “Quite a few of them but Virat Kohli stands head and shoulders above them.”
In the match against the Men in Green, Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to register 11,000 ODI runs. Virat is just 104 runs away from registering 20,000 International runs. He’ll be the third Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to reach thus hallmark if he gets it against Afghanistan in the team’s next game of the tournament.
Virat Kohli who is the leading the Indian team to the ICC World Cup 2019 have won all the games played in the tournament so far. Kohli has registered two consecutive half centuries against Australia and Pakistan and will look forward to register his first century of the tournament. India will play against the Afghans on Saturday, 22nd June at Rose Bowl Cricket ground.
