Sri Lanka vs England, World Cup 2019: Key players from the Sri Lankan team to watch out for
Sri Lankan team that currently ranks sixth in the points table will take on the hosts today at Headingley Carnegie, Leeds today at 3pm IST.
Sri Lanka has won just one of their three matches played in the tournament so far. However, the team has been quite unfortunate as far as the English weather is concerned and is the only team in the tournament to get affected twice due to rain. The team will look forward to register their second win in the tournament against England. Let’s have a look at their key players.
Dimuth Karunaratne- The Sri Lankan skipper has been the most consistent batsman for the side in the otherwise struggling Sri Lankan team. The skipper missed his century by only 3 runs in the team’s encounter against the Aussies where they lost miserably by 87 runs. He even managed to register a solid 52 runs against the Black Caps where they lost by 10 wickets. Despite the team’s losses in the tournament, the Skipper has been consistent with his performance and can still provide the team a hope to win against the hosts.

Kusal Perera- This wicket-keeper batsman along with skipper Dimuth, provides the team much need stability in the opening overs. In the three games played in the tournament, Perera has managed to register two half centuries. He smashed a solid 52 against Australia and 78 against the Afghans providing the team a steady start. However, despite of their consistent batting in the top order, their middle order crumbles in the game.
