X Men: Dark Phoenix director thinks Tom Hardy or Richard Madden will be a good Wolverine
Now that Hugh Jackman has bid adieu to Wolverine, X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg feels that Tom Hardy or Richard Madden will be good choices to replace Jackman. Read below to know more about what Simon had to say.
When Hugh Jackman took up the role of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, he became a legend. So much so that grown men wept when Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for the very last time in Logan (2017). Just like Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, no one can imagine Wolverine being played by anyone except Hugh Jackman. However, when Simon Kinberg, director, writer and producer of X-Men: Dark Pheonix was asked about the casting of a new Wolverine, the filmmaker had some interesting choices.
Talking to GamesRadar, Kinberg firstly stated that it's hard to imagine anyone else play Wolverine the way Hugh had. "I can’t imagine anybody but Hugh Jackman playing it… but if I think about actors who are just really interesting, and that I’d love to work with, Tom Hardy comes to mind; Richard Madden I think is a great actor," Simon continued. He also shared that the reason why Hugh's portrayal was so great was that he was an unknown actor when he was cast. Hence, if there was going to be a new Wolverine, it should be someone new.

X-Men: Dark Pheonix producer Hutch Parker revealed that a new Wolverine's introduction was being discussed. However, they chose not because they felt it required some time.
It's interesting to note that X-Men: First Class (2011) director Matthew Vaughn was keen to recast Wolverine with Hardy. Given that Richard may be a part of The Eternals as Ikaris, our best bets on Tom.
