SmackDown Live took place today and was all about building up to Summerslam 2019 with focus on major feuds. While Universal Champion Brock Lesnar already had his opponent fixed as Seth Rollins on Monday Night RAW, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was yet to have a confirmed opponent. The New Day member, who has been champ since Wrestlemania 35, had a self-fixed opponent in mind and that's his nemesis, Randy Orton. Kofi called Randy to the squared circle to challenge him at Summerslam 2019.

Kingston showed footage from their iconic 2009 match at Madison Square Garden when he drove Orton thought a table. The wrestler accused RKO of using his "influence" to hold back. Randy, on the other hand, stated that Kofi was not ready and subsequently, took credit for his success. Kingston's challenge was accepted by The Viper who vowed to end Kofi's "11-year fairytale" thanks to the RKO. The very next moment we see Samoa Joe have his Extreme Rules 2019 rematch against Kingston with Orton watching on.

When Kofi gained momentum during the match, Randy intervened and tried to RKO his Summerslam opponent. However, when Samoa tried to intervene, he succumbed to a clinical RKO. Just as The Viper recovered, Orton was hit with a Trouble in Paradise, courtesy of the champ!
