WWE SmackDown Live Results: Brock Lesnar returns to F5 Kofi Kingston & challenge him for the WWE Championship
In what was a shocker for the WWE Universe, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE, on SmackDown Live, to challenge Kofi Kingston to a WWE Championship match when the show debuts on Fox, on October 4, 2019. While Kofi accepted the challenge he, unfortunately, became a victim of a vicious looking F-5. Watch the video below.
Kofi Kingston was riding high on his successful title defense against Randy Orton at Clash of Champions. On the other hand, the remaining two members of The New Day, Big E and Xavier Woods, unfortunately, lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championship to The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) at the PPV. Hence, the opening match on SmackDown Live was action-packed as The New Day went toe-to-toe, in a six-man tag team match, against The Viper and The Revival.
The heels focused majorly on an injured Woods who fought his way through and tagged Kofi. Eventually, the WWE champ was able to double DDT both members of The Revival and pinned Dawson after a Trouble in Paradise. While the match was entertaining, it was the post-match scenario that had everyone shocked. Brock Lesnar's music hit and out came The Beast, along with Paul Heyman! The return was surely surprising as no prior announcement was made by WWE like they recently did with The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The last time we saw Brock in WWE was when he lost the WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, in August 2019.
Paul Heyman went straight to the point and challenged Kingston, on Brock Lesnar's behalf, to a WWE Heavyweight Championship match, when SmackDown Live debuts on Fox, on October 4, 2019. The always valiant Kofi quickly accepted the challenge but alas, the champ became a victim of a vicious looking F-5!
