Piers Morgan STORMS OFF set after being confronted about ‘trashing’ Meghan Markle; Later quits ITV network
After being called out for trashing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry by his co-anchor, British TV personality Piers Morgan has quit his job at the ITV network and they have accepted his resignation.
After spending the last few years slamming Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, TV personality Piers Morgan stormed off and later quit ITV when he was called out for his criticism of the former royals. The 55-year-old while co-hosting Good Morning Britain today was called out by his co-host Alex Beresford. “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program—a number of times,” Alex said. “And I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.”
Piers got up and left at this moment, saying, “OK, I’m done with this. Sorry. No. Sorry. You can trash me mate, but not on my own show. See you later. Sorry, can’t do this.” If you don’t know, Piers claims to have been friends with Meghan back in 2015. They apparently hung out in 2016 during the same trip where she went on her first date with Prince Harry. “She met Prince Harry at the dinner that night, went on a solo date with him the next night, and I never heard from her again,” Morgan wrote on social media in 2018. “Not a word. I’d been ghosted.” After storming off, Piers decided to step down as an anchor of ITV’s Good Morning Britain after six years, the broadcaster announced.
This comes in the wake of Ofcom’s announcement that it was investigating comments Morgan made about Meghan Markle after her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired this past weekend. An ITV spokesperson said in a statement via BBC: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
