Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's joint Wimbledon appearance reportedly a 'masterful PR' move says expert
Amid reports of royal rift between the families, Kate and Meghan seemed to put everything behind and were all smiles during their Wimbledon appearance this year.
Members of the royal family had a field at the recently-concluded Wimbledon 2019. While Prince Harry gave it a miss this time around, the duchesses Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle stepped on to the field more than once. While Meghan Markle came to support her closes friend Serena Williams for two of her games, Kate Middleton came thrice this time. Her first outing was solo, second one was with Meghan and sister Pippa Middleton and the third was for the Men's Singles final with husband Prince William.
The most talked-about appearance among the three was undoubtedly Kate and Meghan's one as they took their seats in the royal box for Serena Williams' match. Amid reports of royal rift between the families, Kate and Meghan seemed to put everything behind and were all smiles during the game. However, while the pair seemed to be laughing and getting along very nicely, one royal commentator has claimed their appearance was a “masterful PR move” by Kate.
Royal expert Angela Mollard while speaking to the Morning Show in Britain said, "Masterful PR exercise, wasn’t it? This has a lot of Kate written all over, she’s sort of seen to take the lead. They were both there, they were both enjoying the tennis and they obviously had Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, there."
Mollard added, "Kate’s a kind person, she well brought-up, she’s doing the right thing. If there is any rift, we don’t really know." Reports of rift between Kate and Prince William and Prince Harry and Meghan have been rife since last year. The couples also officially split from the joint charities foundation a few months ago.
