Meghan & Harry's Mega Interview: A look at 5 controversies we would love to see the couple tackle

We are just hours away from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's mega interview with Oprah Winfrey and fans as well as keen followers of the royal family are waiting with bated breath to hear the couple's side of the story. The interview which will be telecasted in the US on CBS on Sunday, 7 March at 8 PM is quickly turning out to be one of the most expected interviews with millions tuning in to watch. The 2-hour special will feature the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sitting down with Oprah for a tell-all interview that has created a rippling effect in Britain already. 

Ahead of the interview, we decided to list down 5 controversial topics that have gained much spotlight ever since Meghan and Harry became working members of the royal family. From their royal split to Meghan's letter to her father, we would love to hear and see the couple share their side of the story. Take a look: 

The Big Royal Split

Back in January 2020, Meghan and Harry took to their then official Instagram page Sussex Royal to announce that they will be stepping back as members of the royal family. As per reports, the couple's bombshell decision came as a shock to the royal family. While the British press and the public at large came down heavily on Meghan and Harry for spending public money, the couple in a lengthy statement revealed their plan was to "carve out a progressive new role within this institution". Soon after, the couple moved to Canada and then to Los Angeles where they have now started their new life. 

Ever since Meghan and Harry's stepping back move, the couple have only spoken via official statements. It would be great to hear the full version from them in this interview as a teaser already featured Prince Harry saying that he was concerned about "history repeating itself". 

The British Press 

Over the years, several keen observers and followers of the Royal Family have noticed a stark difference in the British press' coverage of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. Fans of Meghan and Harry have time and again highlighted the racist coverage and concocted stories that are often published about the Duchess of Sussex. Not to forget, Meghan's past experiences and her time as a television actor was also often raked up for controversies.  

What does Meghan make of all this? It'll be interesting to see how Meghan tackled this sort of press coverage while being a working member of the royal family.   

Prince William and Prince Harry's Rift

Brothers Prince William and Prince Harry have rarely addressed a royal rift between them despite several international reports stating the same. Wile Harry on one occasion has admitted to not being on the same page as his older brother, the royals have been largely silent on the issue. It would be interesting to see Harry dish out details on what exactly caused this rift and if William and Kate Middleton have been supportive of his and Meghan's decision. 

Meghan Markle's Private Letter 

Meghan went head to head with a British publication back in 2018 after parts of her private letter to her father Thomas Markle were published. The Duchess sued the publication for publishing such a private letter which she had written to her father after her royal wedding that year. Meghan eventually won the 18-month long legal battle and in a statement said, "For these outlets, it's a game. For me and so many others, it's real life, real relationships, and very real sadness. The damage they have done and continue to do runs deep."  

Why did Meghan fearlessly and relentlessly pursue this case? Was it simply payback or had a more significant value? We wish Meghan reasons the same in her Oprah interview. 

Baby Archie, Baby No 2 & Life Ahead 

Fans of Meghan and Harry have always wondered what it's been like ever since the couple stepped back from the royal family and moved countries. From bringing up their first born Archie privately and away from the limelight of the British press to starting anew, we would love to see what Meghan and Harry discuss their new found freedom. With no royal protocols to adhere to, how exactly are Meghan, Harry and Archie are leading a private life in the US. 

Moreover, Meghan's miscarriage and the arrival of their baby number 2 this year is also largely on the minds of millions of viewers and fans.
