Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige CONFIRMS Spider Man's exit from MCU: It was never meant to last forever

It has been a chaotic week for Marvel fans after Sony and Disney's deal reached an impasse earlier this week. The split between the two production houses resulted in Tom Holland's Spider-Man leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The friendly neighbourhood superhero had swung into MCU with Captain America: Civil War and featured in five MCU movies. This included Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Sony Pictures issued a statement earlier this week confirming to the public divorce with the Mouse House. Now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has reacted to Spider-Man's exit as well.

The boss-man has been busy with D23. Announcing new shows and movies lined up under Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 umbrella at the bi-annual event, Feige took a few minutes out to react to Spider-Man leaving the franchise. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he confirmed that Holland's Spider-Man will not be seen in future MCU movies. He also added that the deal wasn't meant to last forever.

"I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy. We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that," he told the publication.

Although he did not shed light on the reason behind Sony and Disney's divorce, a few reports suggest that both the houses couldn't reach common ground on revenues and cost which led to the split. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
