Lucasfilm FIRES Star Wars: The Mandalorian star Gina Carano over 'abhorrent & unacceptable' social media posts
Due to her controversial Instagram Stories, Lucasfilm has fired Star Wars: The Mandalorian star Gina Carano and issued a statement on the same.
Gina Carano, who is best known for her role as the fierce rebel Cara Dune in Star Wars: The Mandalorian, came under fire for her controversial Instagram Stories, including sharing a TikTok post, in which she compared the US' current political climate to Nazi Germany; in particular, comparing how the Republicans are treated to how the Jewish were treated. "How is that any different from hating someone for their political views," her story asked.
Moreover, Gina shared another story featuring a snap of a person, whose face and head was covered by several masks along with the caption: "Meanwhile in California." Twitterati didn't take Carano's stance too lightly and immediately started trending #FireGinaCarano, sharing their distaste over the 38-year-old actress' controversial views. "Did she just compare the holocaust to being a republican .. #FireGinaCarano," @djarinculture retorted while @RICHARDLNEWBY tweeted, "One day we get a beautiful story about Pedro Pascal and his goodness and support for inclusivity, and the next we're reminded that Gina Carano has a lizard brain and should not be trusted around human beings. #FireGinaCarano." Moreover, many even petitioned for Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless to take on the role of Cara Dune.
Addressing Carano's controversial social media posts, Lucasfilm finally released a spokesperson statement to Deadline confirming that Gina is not currently employed by them and that they find her social media posts "abhorrent and unacceptable." Moreover, Gina has also parted way with her agency UTA, as confirmed by Deadline.
