Leonardo DiCaprio backs fund donating a whopping USD 5 Million to Amazon amidst the fire
Leonardo DiCaprio has been constantly creating awareness about the recent Amazon Fire. The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor has now backed a fund that will donate USD 5 million to saving the Brazilian rain forest.
Unless you've been living under the rock, you must have come across reports about the wild Amazon fire. Several celebrities took to social media to spread awareness about the near-cataclysmic tragedy which is tearing apart the Brazilian rainforest. Leonardo DiCaprio is at the forefront of spreading awareness about the catastrophic event as he shares videos, photos, and updates from the rainforest on his social media platform. Now, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star's environmental foundation, Earth Alliance, is donating USD 5 million to the Amazon.
The foundation is pledging the money aiming to help efforts in fighting and repairing the wildfires that have damaged the "lungs of the planet." The environmental activist shared a post from the foundation's Instagram and called for donations that will be used for the improvement of the forest. "[Earth Alliance] has formed an emergency Amazon Forest Fund with a commitment of $5 million dollars to focus critical resources for indigenous communities and other local partners working to protect the life-sustaining biodiversity of the Amazon against the surge of fires currently burning across the region," the Instagram post reads.
"100 percent of your donation will go to partners who are working on the ground to protect the Amazon. Earth Alliance is committed to helping protect the natural world. We are deeply concerned about the ongoing crisis in the Amazon, which highlights the delicate balance of climate, biodiversity, and the wellbeing of indigenous peoples," it added.
Following the announcement, fans were all-praise for the actor. They took to the comments section to thank Leonardo and support his cause. "Leo, there's no celeberty I know doing more for our planet than you! We need more celebrities to follow your great example to save the planet, before it's too late! What can we do to help get more celebrities to follow your lead for the world?" a follower asked. "RUN FOR PRESIDENT BRO," proclaimed another fan. "The amount of awareness you spread is spectacular. Thanks for all you do," added another.
