Justice League Snyder Cut producer says Ray Fisher's Cyborg was always intended to be the backbone of the film

While DCEU (DC Extended Universe) are counting down the hours before they're finally able to consume the largely hyped up Snyder Cut version of Justice League, we can't forget the chaotic history behind it. Amongst the many controversies, last year, Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg in the DCEU film, accused Justice League director Joss Whedon and producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of misconduct on the sets of the 2017 movie. While WarnerMedia investigated the matter, they revealed in a statement that "remedial action" had been taken.

*SPOILERS ALERT* In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder's Justice League producer Deborah Synder was asked if seeing Victor Stone aka Cyborg and his father Dr. Silas Stone's (Joe Morton) storyline, which is the heart of the movie, restored felt more meaningful given what Ray had been through after she and Zack left the film. "Cyborg was always the heart of the movie and I think being able to tell the full arc of these characters, especially for Cyborg, but also for every one of them, you get a little more depth, a little bit more nuance with each of them," Deborah shared.

Snyder confessed that she cried when she saw Joe's speech on the tape recorder for Victor, the first time she saw it even way back when they did it. Deborah believes that had she and her husband not left the movie and given the fact it's no secret Warner Bros. wanted things "lighter and funnier," she doesn't think they would have gotten to see the movie the way they have it now. That's particularly what Snyder finds amazing about a streaming platform like HBO Max where people are used to binging and seeing character development play out whereas, in comparison, when watching Justice League in a theatre, the audience would be like, "Ok, when does the team get together already?"

For Deborah, the struggles of the characters starting from Man of Steel has really been "the hero's journey." While people have been patient in getting there, however, we see them go through their struggles, feel out who they are and later become the hero at the end with the concluding factor being, the Justice League.

"Ray, in particular, we saw the least of [in the theatrical cut], so to me, it's the most fulfilling because it was always our intention for him to be the backbone of this film," Synder confided before concluding to THR, "But I'd also say I get a lot more depth and I feel like Flash (Miller) really has his moment. That's what I love, too. At the end of the film, in the final battle, everyone has their part."

We can't wait to see Zack Snyder's magnanimous vision finally come to life!
