Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel on petition to remake season 8: You can’t ask for receipts on art
After Game of Thrones stars like Kit Harington and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau spoke candidly about the season 8 backlash and fans' petition to remake the final season, Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei of Naath, shared her thoughts on the same. Read below to know what the actress had to say.
Game of Thrones Season 8 was definitely talked about by the fandom; albeit for negative reasons. The final season was explicitly bashed by GOT fans for its writing and the majority of hate was directed at the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The criticism escalated to such an extent that over 1.3 million fans signed a petition, which demanded to remake Game of Thrones Season 8. Many GOT stars like Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Sophie Turner have spoken about the backlash.
Joining the list is Nathalie Emmanuel, who we know as Missandei of Naath, who defended Game of Thrones season 8 and felt that the fans backlash, especially the petition, was too harsh. While talking to TVLine, Nathalie shared that while it's totally fine and perfectly acceptable to not like something, what she didn't like was that "people were signing a petition." Furthermore, the actress stated, "You can’t ask for receipts on art. You just can’t. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not."
