Emmys 2019 is going to be packed with Game of Thrones stars as 10 cast members have been nominated for the final season, which aired between April-May 2019. Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) received Emmy nominations in the Lead Actor categories while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) received Emmy nominations in the Supporting Actor categories. Carice van Houten received an Emmy nomination in the Guest Actress category.

While most of the nominated actors have had previous Emmy nods to their credits, this is the first-time Emmy nomination for Sophie, Alfie, Gwendoline and Carice. However, unlike Turner, Allen, Christie and van Houten had to enter themselves, via their reps, for Emmys 2019 consideration. HBO confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they did not enter the trio for consideration and hence, they had to pay $225 entry fee for submitting themselves. While it's not uncommon for actors to enter themselves or through their reps in the Emmys race, it is uncommon for the entries to result in nominations.

Since GOT has several series regulars, it is understandable that they would not enter all of them. There may have also been the concern that pushing Alie and Gwendoline may undercut the chances of guaranteed nominations. But, all is well between the actors and the channel as they will receive a full push going forward towards the Emmys 2019 route.
