Game of Thrones: Director Miguel Sapochnik said THIS about his original plans for the battle of Winterfell
Miguel stated that he really wanted to kill everyone in the battle in order make it look like a merciless battle and had plans to kill Jorah in the horse charge at the beginning but that did not happen.
Miguel Sapochnik has admitted that he was glad to be a part of the Game of Thrones series and has also made some statements that will definitely surprise you. The director said while speaking to Indie Wire, that he had originally planned to make the battle of Winterfell even more deadlier than what it finally became. And by deadlier the director actually meant that he wanted to kill one and all during the battle of Winterfell. Yes, that is what the director said adding further that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss constantly kept telling him to tone down his version of the battle.
Miguel stated that he really wanted to kill everyone in the battle in order make it look like a merciless battle and had plans to kill Jorah in the horse charge at the beginning but that did not happen. A lot of changes were suggested and things kept changing every now and then said the director.
It was noted that the show runners did not allow Miguel to use the material he wished to utilize for the ‘The Long Night’ episode, as they wanted it to be used in the other episode titled ‘The Bells’. He further added when the three really sat down to discuss the battle of Winterfell, there were minor arguments but that has proven to be a learning experience for him all the way. He also said that the disagreements he faced did not make him feel bad about it as the show was not created by him, and he was made a part of the show and the final decisions will always be with the show runners.
