Game of Thrones season 8 had several mind-blowing plot twists that would have made the final season a memorable watch. Find out details inside.
With every passing day, we are hearing heartbreaking updates from Game of Thrones' final season. The concluding season featured just eight episodes. The season featured the most anticipated Battle of Winterfell, the fate of Iron Throne and revealed the King of Seven Kings. Instead of answering the questions of the series, fans were upset with the disappointing ending to GoT's final season. The final episodes left more questions than it answered. Following the series finale, millions signed a petition demanding the final season to be remade. That's not all, lately, new updates from final season reveal the original plans for the Game of Thrones' final season.
A few days ago, it was revealed that 50 direwolves were supposed to feature in the final season. They were supposed to fight the zombie dragons in the Battle of Winterfell. It was also revealed that the director of The Long Night, Miguel Sapochnik wanted to kill everyone in the Battle of Winterfell. And now we hear that the filmmaker had plans of playing with our emotional and mental stability by bringing back Hodor for what could have been an epic battle.
Hodor was last seen in Game of Thrones season 6, holding the door dutifully while Bran makes an escape from the hands of the Night King. Sapochnik recently confessed that Hodor was supposed to come back with the army of the dead and ripe our hearts out in the finale. Speaking on the IndieWire Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, Miguel explained Hodor's wight was supposed to feature in the Battle of Winterfell. The update was shared by users on Reddit, Daily Express reports. However, like other ideas, this idea also found a place in the trashcan. Thinking about Bran seeing Hodor beside the Night King makes our heart wrench.
Speaking about the final season, Sapochnik said, "I wanted to kill everyone. I wanted to kill Jorah in the horse charge at the beginning. I was up for killing absolutely everyone. I wanted it to be ruthless, so that in the first 10 minutes you say, ‘All bets are off; anyone could die.’ And David and Dan didn’t want to. There was a lot of back-and-forth on that.”
“I think a key thing is like it’s not my show right? I didn’t come up with the show and make it. I am a hired director to go and do that. They have let me in and let me be involved, and I’ve really loved doing that. But final cut is not mine. Final cut is theirs; it’s their choice," he added.
