Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock RECALLS being told to be more like Brad Pitt and George Clooney
During the MTV Movie & TV Awards 2019, The Rock recalled in a backstage interview that earlier in his Hollywood career, he was asked to be more like Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Read below to know more on what Dwayne Johnson had to say on the same.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was the man of the hour as his Hollywood career was celebrated at the recently held MTV Movie & TV Awards 2019. It was Shazam! himself, Zachary Levi, who presented the former WWE wrestler with the prestigious 2019 Generation Award. Previous recipients include Chris Pratt, The Fast and the Furious Franchise, Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr., Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Jim Carrey and Tom Cruise, amongst others. The Rock made his entrance on stage with an elaborate, full-fledged 'We Will Rock You' entry.
In a backstage interview with Entertainment Tonight, The Rock got candid about his struggles in the early years of his Hollywood career, as he was not the traditionally built and a stereotypical Hollywood hero. "There was a time when I was struggling in my career and trying to conform because at that time the biggest movie stars were Brad Pitt and George Clooney and I was told, 'When are you going to be more like them?,'" Dwayne revealed. Furthermore, Dwayne even tried to do just what was advised and ended up feeling miserable for a year.

However, The Rock then decided that he has to be himself and see what happens. Fortunately, things worked out for the actor and instead, Hollywood conformed around Dwayne Johnson. "That's the power of being ourselves. That's what this represents," Dwayne concluded on his 2019 Generation Award win.
Congratulations to The Rock!
Meanwhile, Dwayne will next be seen in Hobbs & Shaw, which is a spin-off of the Fast and the Furious franchise. Also starring Jason Statham and Idris Elba, Hobbs & Shaw is slated to release on August 2, 2019.
