Katy Perry is an American singer, songwriter and TV judge. Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album titled after her birth name Katy Hudson in 2001. However, it was commercially unsuccessful. Perry gained fame in 2008 with her second album, One of the Boys, a pop rock record comprising the singles "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold". The track ‘I Kissed a Girl’ sparked controversy for its themes of homosexuality.

The song is from the point of view of a teenage girl. Lyrically, the girl contemplates her first time and how "it wasn't right". 3] Circle the Drain
