Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2019: Game of Thrones dominates with 10 wins including VFX & Editing

Game of Thrones reached its final stage in 2019 with season 8 marking the last time we would get to see our favourite characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. For eight glorious years, GOT has dominated the television world and continues to do so after the final season premiered and was welcomed with extremely polarising reactions. However, Emmys 2019 gave the David Benioff and D.B. Weiss series all the love and season 8 registered a record-breaking 32 Emmy nominations.

The Creative Arts Emmys took place yesterday and as expected, Game of Thrones swiped the competition clean with 10 staggering wins! GOT was followed by Chernobyl and Free Solo which registered seven wins each. When it comes to Game of Thrones, the series won in the following categories - Sound editing for a comedy or drama series (one hour), Special visual effects, Fantasy/sci-fi costumes, Makeup for a single-camera series (non-prosthetic), Stunt coordination for a drama series, limited series or movie, Main title design, Music composition for a series (original dramatic score), Casting for a drama series, Single-camera picture editing for a drama series and Sound mixing for a comedy or drama series (one hour).

Interestingly, this is the seventh Emmy win for the team in the special visual effects category and sixth Emmy win for fantasy/sci-fi costumes.
