Big Little Lies Season 3: Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep & others might NOT reunite
Big Little Lies season 2 premiered its season finale over the weekend. Given it ended on a cliffhanger note, fans are hoping the show's season 3 would be announced soon. However, it seems unlikely as of now.
Big Little Lies premiered the season 2 finale over the weekend and left it on a cliffhanger note. The second season of the HBO show delved deep into a lot of big lies wrapped in little boxes. The new season featured the Monteray Five aka Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley reunite and they had Meryl Streep, who stood against the women on the show. We are not delving into spoilers as we don't want to ruin it for BLL fans who haven't watched it yet. However, we have heard something about the possibilities of the third season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO’s president of programming Casey Bloys spilled the beans on a possible Big Little Lies season 3. Bloys revealed that while there will not be a "never say never" attitude but he is not very optimistic about season 3 actually taking place. "Having approached a possible season 2 skeptically, what became clear to us was there was more story to tell," he said, appearing at the summer edition of the Television Critics Assn. press tour.
“To me, there’s no obvious place to go, or no obvious story. That said, this group is extraordinary… so if they all came to me and said, ‘We have the greatest take,’ … I would certainly be open to it because I love working with all of them. Who knows? It certainly doesn’t feel like it [will happen], but I’m open," he added.
While it is disappointing, we still have hopes that the team would reunite for a season 3. When the first season ended, there were similar statements doing the rounds. However, the team eventually came together for the second season. So, we have our fingers crossed and looking forward to a possible season 3 announcement. Have you watched Big Little Lies season 2?
