Big Little Lies cast has a group chat titled Monterey Five & THIS is how Meryl Streep became a part of it
Big Little Lies season 2 introduced Meryl Streep to the show. The iconic actress plays Mary Louis Wright on the show. Laura Dern recently revealed how the legendary actress joined the Monterey Five's group chat.
Big Little Lies season 2 will have its curtain call this weekend. The hit HBO show features Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley in the lead. The five actresses were seen reprising their roles from the first season. The ladies, who were deemed as The Monterey Five on the big screen, were joined by Meryl Streep in the second season. She played Nicole's on-screen mother-in-law. Hands down, her act as Mary Louis is one of her most memorable performances.
While it is no secret that Celeste (Nicole), Madeline (Reese), Jane (Shailene), Renata (Laura) and Bonnie (Zoe) hate Mary on-screen, things are not the same off-screen. Meryl is not only in on good terms with the ladies, but she is also a part of their group chat, Laura revealed.
The actress recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and spilt the beans on how Meryl ended up in the group. Laura joked, "This other woman wants to join the text. Like 'Meryl. OK? We have our own group text.' It's a little rude." However, she added, "But then of course she writes the most genius thing ever, inspires us all to be better people and we're like, 'OK you can be in our texts.'"

Big Little Lies season 2 will wrap up its journey this weekend. Teasing about the new season, Shailene recently revealed a possible spoiler. WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Shailene said, "In the beginning of the next episode - it’s a little bit of a cliffhanger. All of the women go to visit Perry’s grave and his body is missing." Take it with a pinch of salt, we suggest.
