Every actor has a unique style of working. Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo has spilled the beans on Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr's fascinating way of working on a scene.
He might have kissed MCU goodbye with Avengers: Endgame, but interesting insights about Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr continue make the headlines. The actor has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade. The actor began his journey with Iron Man and ended his run as the superhero in Avengers: Endgame. It has been a few months since the movie released and fans bid him farewell. However, Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo has shared an interesting insight into RDJ's style of acting.
Speaking about one of the highest-paid actor of 2019's style of acting. The filmmaker recently revealed that Downey doesn't repeat the same line twice. Featuring in a Talks at Google video, Joe said that Downey has a unique process of working. RDJ has an assistant, who has been with the actor for years now, who helps Downey with his process.
"Downey will never say the same line twice. He’s got a really unique process where he has an earwig in and he has an assistant who has been working with him for years. And what we’ll do is like a Sunday before we shoot his scenes for the week. We’ll get in a room with him and the writers and pitch out alternate lines because he wants to keep it alive every take. So then he’ll do a take scripted and then his assistant will feed him the alts, he’ll do the scene again with the alts, his assistant will feed him the next round of alts, we’ll the scene again with another round of alts," Russo explains.
"And what’s great is that after four takes, we can look at everything he’s done and we can pick and choose and rebuild it, and then he’ll do it one more time with everything that seemed to work the best. That’s a very different process than, say, Scarlett’s process. It’s exciting to work with such a range of talent," he added.
