Ji Oh's decision
Ji Oh arrives while Gu Reum is surrounded by guards. Gu Reum wants to escape but Ji Oh desires to change humanity believing it to be the only way forward. He’s willingly going to allow himself to be cloned and decides to comply with the others.
Their daughter
Ji Oh gets hooked up to a machine and they raise levels one at time to shock his embryos into submission. Midway through, he hears his baby crying and instinctively rushes off with all the contraptions hanging on him. Turns out, he and his daughter have identical cells and they turn the focus on the baby. Ji Oh shocks Gu Reum and takes the baby away for conducting experiments on.
Gu Reum's parents
On the run, Gu Reum gets saved by Team Leader Choi who gets fatally wounded in the process. Then he reveals that it wasn't Ji Oh but Kim Cheol Soo who killed her parents. Well, you revealed that very soon, Sir. She does hand him in to her senior after recording his confession so justice served. Delayed, but served.
The Circle completes
Gu Reum rushes to the top of a building while running away from guards. Kim Cheol Soo gets ready with a rifle to shoot her. He wants revenge for hurting his pride. She lets go of the baby probably knowing that the child will survive. Ji Oh arrives and she refuses to hand him the baby, lying that the baby is far away. They have another argument where both try to explain their sides and Kim Cheol Soo chooses that moment to shoot. He targets Ji Oh first since he needs the body to exchange with foreign buyers. But Gu Reum blocks the shot and eventually passes away. Ji Oh chases after Kim Cheol Soo, kills him, and then carries Gu Reum to the cars that await him. Time-jump to 9 months later where the babies are almost born while Ji Oh and Gu Reum's daughter is adopted by people who have an idea about her identity.
Everything ends with Ji Oh's, "Today, the Holocene ended."
As far as the drama shows, Gu Reum has certainly passed away. Ji Oh is the new leader and starts an empire with a new generation of not-so-normal human beings. Their child gets, what seems like, a normal life with normal parents, but her powers are acting up. The organisation is bound to find her eventually.
A lot of fans are talking about a possible second season but there has been no news or leaks by the production team about it. The ending is heartbreaking but very realistic and by how this began, the series was doomed with a terrible ending. On that note, the series remained mostly interesting and thought-provoking till the end.
