England vs Sri Lanka, ICC World Cup 2019: Key players from the hosts to watch out for

Even before the commencement of the big tournament, England was considered to be the joint favourites along with the Men in Blue. They rank third in the points table only behind New Zealand and Australia and have won four out of five matches played in the tournament so far. Let’s have a look at their key players.

Eoin Morgan- English Skipper, Eoin Morgan registered a mighty 148 runs on board  in the team’s previous game against the Afghans and led the team from the front. The hosts won by a margin of 150 runs and crumbled the Afghanistan batting line-up to mere 247 runs after registering a target of 397 runs on board in the first innings. Morgan smashed his 148 runs in just 71 deliveries with an exceptional strike rate of 208.45. In the opening match of the tournament against the Proteas, Morgan managed to score a solid 57 runs off 60 deliveries with a strike rate of 95. The team will look forward to his contribution in order to win this game against the Lankans.

Jofra Archer- This fast-bowler claimed three crucial wickets against Afghanistan with a bolwing economy of only 5.20. Against West Indies and the Proteas, he claimed three wickets each and has been extremely consistent in his bowling attack whilst maintaining a low economy. The hosts will depend highly on his splendid bowling attacks to create pressure on the oppositions.
