A domestic help modelled for a fashion designer and her innocent style will win your heart

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and a Delhi-based fashion designer proved the essence of this phrase in the best possible way. Mandeep Nagi, the director of Shades of India, was on a lookout for a fresh face for her new collection titled ‘Cinnamon’. Incidentally, her eyes fell on next-door neighbour’s domestic help Kamala (name changed). The maid, who works almost round the clock to make ends meet for her family, decided to give it a try and the results are before us.

These days, Fashion houses and labels try to establish a realistic chord with people. And this photoshoot fits the bill for one and all.

In an interview to a newspaper, Mandeep was quoted as saying “The emphasis of our new collection, Cinnamon, is on textures, and I wanted someone extraordinary. I do not like shooting with professional models, but with women who don’t expect to be models and suddenly feel empowered before the camera, in clothes that they like.”

In words of Mandeep, Kamala, who was quite hesitant at first, won over the camera with her raw confidence and innocent charm. We couldn’t agree more!
