30 movies to look forward to in 2016!
Bollywood, each year produces a humongous number of movies . While some manage to leave a strong impact that stays with the audiences forever, others fail to meet the expectations of viewers. 2015 too saw a balance of both amazing and below average movies. Now with a lot of films releasing next year already doing the rounds for various reasons, it is going to be quite a dilemma for audiences to choose the best one to watch every weekend!

Here we are with some of the movies of 2016 that look promising !
Wazir
The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan , Farhan Akhtar, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Aditi Rao Hydari. The movie shall see Akhtar stepping into the shoes of an ATS officer. Written and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, this movie is all set to hit the theatres on 8th January, 2016.
Ghayal Once Again
Starring Sunny Deol in the lead,the movie also has Soha Ali Khan, Rishabh Arora, Aanchal Munjal, Shivam Patil and Diana Khan in the vital roles. A powerful line up of action, suspense and the hero himself, the movie seems to be kick-starting the new year with a bang!
Produced by Dharmendra under their home productions, Vijayta films, the movie is slated to release on 15th January next year.
Airlift
Airlift revolves around the Gulf War scenario; the story of the Indians who were stranded in Kuwait and how Akshay as Ranjit Katyal helps them out to survive the Iraqi Invasion. Directed by Raja Menon, the movie also stars The Lunchbox fame Nimrat Kaur in the movie opposite Akshay and has been produced by Nikhil Advani and T Series. While the movie is all set to release just a few days before republic day, on the 22nd January 2016.
Saala Khadoos
The movie revolves around the relationship between a coach and his student and how the coach trains his female student to place a strong foothold in the world of Boxing. It stars R. Madhavan and marks the debut of actress Ritika Singh. A film by Rajkumar Hirani Films and Tricolour Films in association with UTV Motion Pictures, it is all slated to release on January 29th, next year.
Neerja
Director Ram Madhvani is all set to bring the story of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot whose fierce, sole battle with the terrorists saved the lives of hundreds onto the silver screen as a token of tribute. The movie shall see Sonam Kapoor slipping into the uniform of the martyr Neerja while Shabana Azmi will essay the role of her on screen mother The movie is based on the terrifying incident, when the Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked on the tarmac of Karachi airport by four armed terrorists. It was Flight attendant Neerja Bhanot (23) who stood straight facing the life-risking situation to safeguard her passengers.
The movie that releases on Feb 19, next year, is shall also mark the debut of music composer cum singer, Shekhar Ravjiani from the Vishal-Shekhar duo.
Rocky Handsome
Rocky Handsome is an upcoming action thriller directed by Nishikant Kamat . Starring John Abraham and Shruti Haasan the movie revolves around a strong emotional story of the relationship between a father who never had a daughter and a seven year old daughter who never had a father. The film shall deal with a very emotional and romantic love story in the protagonist’s past. It is set to release on Good Friday Holiday of March 2016.
Fitoor
Fitoor stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles and has been directed by Abhishek Kapoor. Starring Katrina as Firdaus and Aditya as Noor, Fitoor is based on the popular Charles Dickens' novel 'Great Expectations'. The love story is largely shot in Srinagar, Kashmir and Poland and is all set to release on February 12, 2016.
Jai Gangaajal
Directed by Prakash Jha, Jai Gangaajal will see Priyanka Chopra slipping into the Khaki uniform of an IPS officer Abha Mathur. The movie revolves around the relationship between the society and police. It narrates the link between the police, society and politicians. Jai Gangaajal also highlights the hardships faced by women in the police force. Apart from writing and directing, Prakash Jha is also seen playing an important role of a policeman in the movie. The movie is all set to hit the screens on 4th March, next year.
Kapoor & Sons
Produced by Karan Johar, the romantic comedy drama stars Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead. It is the trio’s second movie together after their debut movie “Student of the Year”. The movie that also stars Fawad Khan and Rishi Kapoor will hit the theaters onMarch 18, 2016. It is directed by Shakun Batra.
Ki and Ka
R.Balki's upcoming film Ki and Ka stars Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role. The movie shall see Arjun essay the role of a house-husband to Kareena who plays a highly career oriented working woman. It is all set to release on April 1, 2016. The film also has a special appearance by Amitabh Bachchan and wife Jaya Bachchan.
Fan
Fan will see SRK play a twin role in the movie, that of a superstar and the other of the star’s fan. The movie will see a perfect blend ofhumour and a lot of incidents with mistaken identities and a comedy of error. Shah Rukh considers his role in the movie to be one of the toughest ones he has ever played in his career. Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra, Fan releases on April 15, 2016.
Baaghi: A Rebel For Love
Directed by Sabbir Khan, the movie stars Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff in the lead. The two will be seen opposite to each other for the first time. Right from extensive water sequences to performing some heavy-duty action scenes in the movie, the actors have done it all. For the action sequences, the actress also had to undergo severe intense training under stunt master Kecha in Bangkok. The movie releases on 29th April 2016.
Baar Baar Dekho.
Directed by debutant director Nitya Mehra, Baar Baar Dekho stars Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead. The movie is a love story that travels through time for which both the leads will be sporting mature look as well. BBD is slated to release in 2016. It shall be the first time that Katrina and Sidharth would be sharing space together.
Azhar
Directed by Tony D’souza, Azhar is an upcoming biopic on the former Indian international cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin. The role of the cricketer shall be portrayed by Emraan Hashmi. The film that shall see Prachi Desai essay the role of the cricketer's first wife Naureen, is scheduled to release on 13 May 2016.
Rock on 2
The sequel to 2008 hit Rock On, this installment will see Shraddha Kapoor added to the team of Farhan Akhtar’s onscreen musical band.Rock On 2 will pick up from where the prequel had ended. It is slated to release next year mid.
Force 2
Directed by Abhinav Deo, Force 2 will see John Abraham in a complete powerpacked performance. Starring Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin, the movie is a sequel to the 2011 hit Force that starred Genelia D’souza. The movie which has been majorly shot in London and Budapest is slated to release in the first half of next year.
Mirziya
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's, Mirzya is is an epic love story that is inspired by the folk tale of ‘the legend of Mirza – Sahiban’. The film will mark the Bollywood entry of Anil Kapoor's son, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi’s niece, Saiyami Kher. The film is said to have a lot of powerpacked scenes and high end drama.
Sarabjit
Directed by Omang Kumar, Sarbjit will revole around the tragic life of Sarbjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan. The movie shall see Randeep Hooda play the title role of Sarbjit, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Richa Chada shall be seen essaying the roles of his sister (Dalbir Kaur) and wife respectively. The movie is set to release on 20th May 2016.
Housefull 3
The third installment of 2010 hit Housefull stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri in pivotal roles. It will hit the screens on June 3, 2016. Housefull3 will not see Sajid Khan wearing the director’s hat. The third part of the movie has been directed by Farhad-Sajid and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Sajid Khan had directed the previous two installments of Housefull.
Jagga Jasoos
Directed by Anurag Basu, the movie stars lovebirds Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The two will be seen sharing screen for the third time in Jaggaa Jasoos. The movie has been doing the rounds for quite sometime now.
Udta Punjab
Starring Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh, Udta Punjab is a story of a Punjabi rockstar. The movie directed by Abhishek Kapoor shall mark the debut of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, who will be seen essaying the role of a cop.
Dishoom
Directed by Dhawan sibling Rohit Dhawan, Dishoom stars Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and also Jacqueline Fernandez. The movie whose first look was recently revealed is all set to release on 29th July 2016.
Sultan
Bhai of Bollywood, Salman Khan will be seen in a full-fledged role of a wrestler, Kesari Sultan from Haryana in Ali Abbas Zaffar’s Sultan. Salman is said to have been undergoing intense workout sessions to justify his character in the movie. Sultan is set to release on Eid 2016.
Raees
Shahrukh Khan is all set to step into the shoes of a Gujarati Don dealing in illegal alcohol trade. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. The movie is set to release during Eid next year.
Mohenjo Daro
Bollywood’s Greek God Hrithik will be seen in fierce fight scenes with real tigers in Mohenjo Daro. Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, the movie is an epic love story set in the Indus Valley civilization. It will mark the big screen debut of model Pooja Hegde.
M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, MS Dhoni: The untold story is an upcoming biopic on the Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie shall see Sushant Singh Rajput step into the shoes of the cricketer. It will showcase Dhoni's life story also incorporating some very popular moments and also some exclusive details known only to a very few close aides of the cricketer. Audiences will also get to see the epic helicopter shot usually played and invented by Dhoni in cricket. Produced by Fox Star Studios and Inspired Entertainment, "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story", also features veteran actor Anupam Kher, who will be seen playing Dhoni's father Pan Singh. It is set to hit the screens on 2nd September, next year.
Rustom
Based on true life incidents, Rustom will be directed by Neeraj Pandey. Though the movie has a romantic angle, it will also revolve around a murder mystery. Based on real life events, The movie that stars Akshay Kumar will be the actor's third collaboration with Neeraj after ‘Special 26’ and ‘Baby’. It is speculated to release during Independence Day next year.
Rangoon
Vishal Bharadwaj’s upcoming venture Rangoon, stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. The film is set in the backdrop of the Second World War, the period when the British Army had fought against the Indian National Army in Burma; which was known as Rangoon at that time. It revolves around the real life story of actress and stunt-woman Mary Evans Nadia, popularly known as “Fearless Nadia”. The film is set for a 2016 release.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Directed by Karan Johar, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead. Ranbir and Anushka would be seen sharing the space on-screen for the second time after Bombay Velvet . The movie also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with special appearances by Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas Naqvi. It is finally set to release on 28th October next year. The movie has been shot in Paris, London and Austria.
Shivaay
Starring Ajay Devgn and Sayesha Sehgal in the lead, Shivaay will also see wearing the director's hat after U, Me aur Hum that released in 2008. The shooting schedule of Shivaay began to roll in early November, this year in Mussoorie. The second schedule of Shivaay was shot in Hyderabad. The movie will also see some high octane scenes for which a German stunt team had specially flown down. Shivaay that also stars Vir Das will release next year on 28th October
Dangal
Aamir Khan’s Dangal has been the talk of the town for quite sometime now. The movie will see Aamir play the role of a wrestler for which he has been undergoing serious intensive work out. He has supposedly gained 20 kilos for the role. The actor will be seen playing three different ages in the film. Directed by Nitish Tiwari, the movie is inspired by the real life story of former wrestler Mahavir Phogat, who trained his two daughters in Indian cultural sport in a village of Haryana. The movie is slated to release next December.
With next year having two SRK starrers, two movies based on wrestling, two biopics on two cricketers and Hrithik Roshan to be seen on screen after two years, it seems the excitement amongst audiences will also be two times more!
