Brian Lara chooses Sachin Tendulkar over Virat Kohli but says there is huge gap between Virat & the World
Former West Indian cricketer was in all praises for the Indian skipper and said that he is a run machine but picked Sachin Tendulkar as his all time favourite.
Sachin Tendulkar who is considered to be one of the greatest stalwarts India has ever produced remains former West Indian cricketer Brian Lara’s all time favourite. However, Lara picked the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli to be the best in this era.
After being conferred the Doctorate in Science by the DY Patil University in Nerul, Lara said that Virat Kohli is a run machine but he picked Sachin Tendulkar as his all time favourite. He also added that there is no doubt that there is a huge gap between Virat Kohli and the rest of the World in all forms of the game.
He also added that even though Rohit Sharma has got four centuries in the on-going World Cup tournament, but if you want someone to bat in T20, T10, 100 balls cricket or test cricket, it is going to be Virat Kohli. Virat has been extremely consistent with his bat in the current World Cup and have smashed five consecutive half centuries.
However, the West Indian legend was in all praises for Sachin Tendulkar and mentioned that the impression Sachin left on the game is unbelievable. According to Lara, it was Sachin Tendulkar who helped the Indian batsman gain confidence on foreign soil and to play away matches.
“Sachin sort of bridged that period, where you felt that when Indian batsman leaves Indian soil, Indian pitches, they are not that good.” He added that Sachin was extremely good on every surface and that’s the reason why all of the Indian batsmen are good on every single surface today.
