Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has hit the screens and is doing wonders at the box office. The film is a shout out to street rappers like Naezy and Divine and shows their struggles in the truest form. Zoya Akhtar has done a fantastic job in terms of writing the characters that have a cathartic effect on the viewers. Ranveer, as we all know, puts life to any character that he takes up and this is no different. His journey as Murad in the movie will give you inspiration to conquer all your dreams and not follow a set pattern.
The movie got a bumper opening of Rs. 19.40 crores. The film, which released in 3,350 screens across the country, earned around Rs. 13.10 crores on Friday, according to early estimates. Ranveer's rapping skills have become the talk of the town. Ranveer and Alia’s chemistry is also one of the highlights of the movie. In total, the movie has raked in around Rs. 32 crores in two days of its release. There is a drop of 30% in the Friday box office collection as it was a working day after the Valentine’s Day. The movie has lived up to the hype that was created before the release.
When we had contacted Trade Analyst Girish Johar for the box office prediction for Day 1, he had said, “The movie is releasing on a non-Holiday weekend and hence I peg the movie to get an opening of around Rs 15 crore and more. If it picks up well, it can go up to 17-18 crore.” Produced by Tiger Baby Productions and Excel Entertainment, Gully Boy also features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash in pivotal roles. The film is expected to do much better in the coming days. Stay tuned in for more such updates. Watch the trailer here:
