Ahead of WandaVision finale, director Matt Shakman hopes fans will find it 'surprising but also satisfying'

Marvel's much loved series WandaVision is coming to an end today and fans are more excited than ever to see how this journey finishes off. WandaVision began airing on 15 January and in no time went on to become Marvel Studios' most popular web series. Today, as the finale inches closer, fans have taken to social media to discuss theories and their favourite moments from the series. And while they debate away, director Matt Shakman is hoping fans will be satisfied with the end.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Matt was asked about what he's hoping for Marvel fans to take away from WandaVision's finale. Revealing that it will be a surprising finale, he said, "I hope that they feel like the journey was satisfying for them. I know there are so many theories out there; there will be a lot of people who will no doubt be disappointed by one theory or another."
While he obviously did not give away any spoiler, Matt added, "But we're always telling this story about Wanda dealing with grief and learning how to accept that loss, and hopefully people will find that the finale is surprising but also satisfying, and that it feels inevitable because it's the same story they've been watching the whole time."
Matt also called his job of directing WandaVision a job of a "lifetime". "The challenge as a director was unique. I'll never have a job like this again. This was the job of a lifetime, to be able to draw on all of those different skillsets," Matt said.
