WI vs Australia, World Cup 2019: Chris Gayle out on a delivery that should have been a free hit

The umpires failed to call a no-ball after Mitchell Starc overstepped. The subsequent delivery should have been a free-hit, but Gayle was dismissed and had to walk back to the pavilion.

WI vs Australia, World Cup 2019: Chris Gayle out on a delivery that should have been a free hit

In a major embarrassment to the umpires during the game between Australia and West Indies, a no-ball was not given just a delivery before Chris Gayle was dismissed. At Trent Bridge, Chris Gaffaney missed a no-ball from Mitchell Starc that could have saved the left-hander's wicket.

Commentators spotted the gaffe a few overs after Gayle was sent back in the fifth over. The ball before he was out, Starc bowled a massive no ball that was not spotted. It could have saved Gayle's wicket as the next ball would then have been a free hit. Instead he was out leg before wicket in the fifth ball.

Twitter was not amused, with the users calling out the atrocious error.
