India vs South Africa, ICC World Cup 2019: Jasprit Bumrah & Yuzvendra Chahal strike back, SA batting trembles
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first against the men in blue at Rose Bowl cricket ground.
South Africa lost 4 wickets at the end of 20 overs and it was Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal who managed to restrict the Proteas batsmen to just 84/4 runs.
In the first World Cup 2019 match of the Men in Blue, Bumrah provided a great start to the team by dismissing both the South African openers to an average score.
Hashim Amla could only score 6 runs, whereas Quinton de Kock managed to score just 10 runs before they got out on Jasprit Bumrah's bowling. Bumrah, who made his ODI debut in 2016, took no time to be an integral part of the Indian cricket team. With his exceptional bowling he is currently the most reliable bowler of the team.
Yuzvendra Chahal, on the other hand, dismissed the Proteas’ right-handed batsman, Rassie van der Dussen (22 runs) and South African captian Faf du Plessis (38) in the same over. The leg spinner wasted no time in breaking the partnership of these middle order batsmen of the South African team. Du Plessis who was looking quite robust at his 38 runs innings was dismissed by the Indian leg spinner, Yuvendra Chahal.
Kuldeep Yadav took no time in joining Chahal and Bumrah and picked up the wicket of JP Duminy who was dismissed after scoring only 3 runs.
South Africa’s early wickets will put the team in turmoil.
