The wait for India's opener in the World Cup will end on June 5, when Team India take on South Africa at Southampton. Team India will be confident of their chances against a struggling Proteas side. The South Africans have lost two games on the trot and have injury concerns as well, with Hashim Amla and Lungi Ngidi uncertain for tomorrow and Dale Steyn already out of the World Cup.

The responsibilities, then, on Quinton de Kock will be immense. He is one of the most dangerous openers currently, and his battle with Jasprit Bumrah - one of the most staggering new ball bowlers - will be something fans will be keen to witness.

Both played for the same team in the IPL a month ago, and hence will be aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses. Both the players are mainstays for their respective teams, and will need to take centrestage.

The onus on de Kock to get runs under his belt will be massive. He has been the only figure from the team who is willing to fight it out in the middle even as wickets have tumbled around him. He also has a good record against India - scoring 774 runs in 12 games at an average of 64.5 with five hundreds at an average of just less than 65.

However, the track for this game will be a green one and there was adequate wind two days prior to the match, which means that Bumrah will love bowling here. He can get the ball to swing to his tunes and often pitches outside the off-stump and this is a delivery that often has troubled de Kock in the past.
