India vs Australia, ICC World Cup 2019: Team India's practice session called off due to rain
Team India won their first game and face Australia on Sunday.
Team India finally played their first game against South Africa on June 5, six days after the World Cup got underway. Against a struggling Faf du Plessis-led side, Virat Kohli's Men put in a clinical display to win by 6 wickets. They now face Australia, the defending champions, on Sunday.
However, rain affected their practice session on Friday, which meant that the session was called off. England receives a lot of rain in the months of June and July, and hence, the scheduling of the tournament in this season was criticised.
Earlier, Sri Lanka's game with Afghanistan was cut short due to rain as well, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka are still waiting for the covers to go off in the ongoing clash.
Talking about the first game, Team India trounced South Africa convincingly. Opting to bat first, the side could not get a partnership upfront as Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc. Yuzvendra Chahal then picked up 4 wickets, and though there was some resistance by Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo at the end, the target of 228 was never going to be enough.
Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 122 ensured just that as Team India won.
