ICC World Cup 2019: Hardik Pandya can play Yuvraj Singh’s role in the tournament, says Glenn McGrath
India will look forward to repeat their 2011 World Cup triumph and bring the cup back home.
India will begin its World Cup campaign from tomorrow where they will play their first match against the Proteas at Rose Bowl cricket ground. When we recall the great 2011 World Cup triumph, the one name that often comes to our mind is Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj, who was also named the Man of the Tournament in 2011 was India’s star batsman and led the team to the glory of victory with his spectacular batting performances as well as exceptional bowling.
However, today, when we look at the current Indian squad, one such all-rounder that reminds us of this legendary player is Hardik Pandya. If India wants to go ahead in this tournament, they will be highly dependable on this all-rounder. Hardik will play his first 50 over World Cup match tomorrow and is already an integral part of the team.
Australian cricketer, Glenn McGrath also believes that Pandya can take up the role of Yuvraj Singh. When asked about whether the current Indian team will miss the skills of Yuvraj Singh, he said that Pandya can take up that role. Later, he also mentioned Dinesh Karthik to be a great finisher. According to him, the current Indian squad looks pretty sorted right now with some of the exceptional bowlers like Bumrah and all rounders like Hardik Pandya in the team. He said that MS Dhoni can be the biggest key for the Indian team.
Overall, the Indian team looks quite balanced with players of great abilities in their side. The tournament’s favourites that are now led by Virat Kohli will look forward to bring the cup back home.
