ICC World Cup 2019: India Star Jasprit Bumrah undergoes doping test
Jasprit Bumrah was taken for a doping test during the team’s practice session at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton.
Team India's premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah was taken for a doping test on Monday even as the side gear up for their World Cup opener on June 5.
Dope control officials took the bowler for the test during the side's practice session at Southampton. There were a total of two sittings in the test. In the first round, Bumrah was taken for a urine test, and after a period of 45 minutes, his blood samples were taken.
In every ICC event, every Indian player has to undergo a doping test, which is conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency or WADA.
It is unconfirmed whether any other Indian will take the doping test though.
Indian fans are desperately awaiting for the Kohli-led team to be in action in the event. While all the other teams have got their campaign back on track, the Men in Blue are spending their off-days in fun activities like playing paintball. They celebrated Dinesh Karthik's 34th birthday last week as well. Kohli and Co. have been sweating it out in the gym to be fit before the action gets underway on June 5 against the South Africans.
Earlier, Yusuf Pathan was suspended for failing a dope test after “inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups.” The other Indian in recent past to have failed a dope test is Pradeep Sangwan, who was banned in 2013 after failing the test in the sixth edition.
