The current Indian Team is an amalgamation of both experienced skills and young talent. Whilst we have the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who will bring in their experience of previous ICC World Cups, we have a few players who will make their ODI World Cup debut. Here’s the list of 5 Indian players who will be playing their first One Day International World Cup in 2019.

Hardik Pandya- The Indian all-rounder who made his ODI debut in 2016 has already 45 wickets to his credit with a bowling average of 32.38. Being the part of ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, Hardik Pandya with his power hitting abilities is now an integral part of the Indian Cricket Team. It was back in 2016 when Hardik made his impact in International Cricket by defending 2 runs off 3 balls against Bangladesh in T20 World Cup. It will interesting to see this emerging cricketer utilise his T20 proficiency in ODI cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah- With a record of 85 ODI wickets and a bowling economy of 4.51, Jasprit Bumrah is definitely the most reliable bowler in the Indian squad. Bumrah with his explicit talent and abilities made his mark in IPL and was one of the 3 players to be retained by Mumbai Indians. He is a great asset to the Indian Team and is currently ranked No. 1 Bowler in ICC Cricket Rankings. This will prove to be a great advantage for India in the World Cup to have the No. 1 Batsman (Virat Kohli) and bowler (Jasprit Bumrah) in their side.

KL Rahul- Making his ODI debut in 2016, KL Rahul with his 80.9 strike rate in ODI can be a good choice for the much debatable number 4 spot in the batting line up.  In his 14 One Day Internationals, KL scored 343 runs with an average of 34.3. With him being involved in the controversy with his teammate Hardik Pandya, it would be ideal for him to showcase his mark in International cricket with his contribution in the Team.

Vijay Shankar- A new addition to the Indian squad, Vijay Shankar made his debut in 2019 against Australia. In his 9 One Day Internationals, he scored 165 runs with a strike rate of 96.49 and an average of 33. Amongst the other contenders for the number 4 spot, Vijay with his all round abilities will definitely have an edge ahead of others.

Yuzvendra Chahal- With his exceptional bowling skills in IPL and International Cricket, Yuzvendra Chahal will be an integral part of the bowling unit. With 71 ODI wickets in just 40 matches, he was ranked 8th in the current ICC Bowlers Rankings. This leg spinner will be all ready to make an impact in his first ever ODI World Cup.
