Hafeez's return to form

Any team in trouble looks for experience to guide them through in pressure situations. When Pakistan had lost early wickets, Hafeez walked out, got into his rhythm early, took on the spinners with ease and rotated the strike well. He was comfortable against the pacers and played each ball to its merit.

He maintained a strike rate of 135.48 in the middle overs, which allowed his team to reach close to 350. His return to form spells good news for the team, as they seemed too reliant on their top-order.

Bowling leg-spin to England's openers

Faf du Plessis started off by getting Imran Tahir to bowl the first over against England when South Africa took them on, and all other captains are following suit. Tahir had sent back Bairstow in his very first over in the opener, and Sarfaraz Ahmed applied a similar tactic as he brought on Shadab Khan early. The leggie sent back Jason Roy with a perfect delivery, and this is a tactic that other teams could adapt as well.

Pakistan finally win against England after scoring more than 340

Earlier in May, Pakistan met England in a 5-match series, and the games were in the news for the inability of Pakistan to win despite scoring 340 runs consistently. The side failed to defend 340 twice and lost two games after scoring 340 in the first innings. One game was abandoned.

With this win, Pakistan seem to have finally broken the jinx.
