Bangladesh vs New Zealand, World Cup 2019: Colin Munro's battle with Mashrafe Mortaza will be one to watch out
Mashrafe's battle with Munro could decide the game.
The second day-night encounter of the World Cup 2019 will see Bangladesh take on New Zealand on June 5. Both teams are coming into the game with wins under their belt - while the Kiwis defeated the Sri Lankans convincingly, Bangladesh stunned South Africa to win by 21 runs.
While players like Shakib Al Hasan, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson and Mustafizur Rahman are key players, the battle between Mortaza and Munro could be the key.
Munro, regarded as an explosive opener who was prone to inconsistencies, stamped his presence in the World Cup with a fluent 58 to show the improvements that have come in his game. He took on responsibility and played till the end, even as Martin Guptill at the other end was playing with aggression.
At The Oval, the conditions will suit his batting style. If he sees off the new balls and gets into rhythm early, he can get a big knock again.
Mortaza on the other hand could not create the impact he would have wanted against SouthAfrica, and he will look to change just that against the Black Caps.
His speed in that game was slow and the batters struggled against him, and if he can persist with the same line and length, he will be tough for Munro to face. He has been among the wickets in Bangladesh's recent series and with hoards of experience to back him, Mortaza could be the key.
