Two Asian teams will face each other for the first time in the ongoing World Cup when Afghanistan meet Sri Lanka at Cardiff on June 4. Both teams are coming off a loss, and the way they handle their nerves on the big stage will go a long way in determining the winners of the clash.

Two key players for this match will be Rashid Khan and Dimuth Karunaratne. While the former's exploits in world cricket need no mentioning, the latter has taken up the responsibility of playing maturely since he was named the captain of the side. Rashid had an off-day against the Australians though, while Karunaratne carried his bat through to make an unbeaten 52 against New Zealand.

The battle between them, then, will go a long way in determining the result of the match.

The Sri Lankan skipper has emerged as one of the finest batters in this abysmal batting attack. He is someone who can be relied upon, and this was on display when he played through the innings against the Kiwis. He was the lone warrior for the side, and the team will want him to rise to the occasion again.

His rivalry with Rashid Khan is an enticing battle, which promises exciting viewing. The spinner has bowled 7.2 overs to him, but is yet to get his wicket. However, in the sole game he played against Sri Lanka last year, he picked up 2 for 26, and will be looking to mix deliveries in order to send Karunaratne back.
