Afghan skipper Asghar Afghan had won the toss at Abu Dhabi and managed 249 runs in their 50 overs. Rahmat Shah starred as he made 72 in 90 deliveries, while Lankan Thisara Perera starred with the ball, finishing with 9-0-55-5.
The Afghan bowlers put in a spirited show to dismiss Sri Lanka for 158. The spin trio of Mujeeb ur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi picked up two wickets each to script a memorable win.
