Kapil Sharma Takes A Dig At Grover On Comedy Nights
On Sunday, in an unscheduled unscripted potshot at Sunil ‘Gutthi’ Grover, Kapil Sharma suddenly wanted to know on camera why Grover chose to walk out of Comedy Nights With Kapil last year.
This was done on the newly revamped avatar of the show which kickstarted with great gusto on Sunday night.
According to a source from the show, “The question just popped up when Grover was on the sets with Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan. Suddenly, Kapil wanted to know why Gutthi had left the show.”
Taken aback by the question Grover took just a few seconds to gather his wits and answered, “Gutthi went away just long enough to do a film Gabbar Is Back with Akshay Kumar. After the film was completed Gutthi was back on the show.”
Apparently, Grover is now paid the amount he deserves. This was the only condition on which he agreed to return to the show after he walked out last year to work on his own comedy show, which incidentally flopped.
The show has taken a year-long leap and Gutthi appears on the show in a different avatar.
Apparently, the look is inspired by Priyanka Chopra.
Says Sunil, “In her head Gutthi is a very fashionable woman. She has now changed her look. She wears oversized horn-rimmed spectacles and sports a look that she has seen Priyanka Chopra sporting.”
Does Grover enjoy the new look? “Whether I like Gutthi’s new look or not, I’ve no choice in that matter! Gutthi doesn’t listen to me! She does exactly what she wants. She dresses and talks exactly the way she pleases. I have no say in what she does.”
Apart from Gutthi, Grover also appears on Comedy Nights With Kapil as Kapil Sharma’s cheesy unkempt father-in-law.
Says Grover, “The man has serious hygiene problems. I use twice the amount of perfume that I usually do, when I am in old man’s costume.”
