Bollywood fashion diva and fashionaholic, Sonam Kapoor, was the latest guests on Zee Café’s show ‘Look Who’s Talking’.

Host Niranjan threw a lot of questions that were related to the controversies Sonam had been involved into and of course, a few questions on her special love for fashion.

She was asked how she thought of becoming an actress.

Sonam revealed that she never thought of becoming an heroine in the first place but she desired being a writer. However, destiny had different plans for her.

“I used to play dress up but I did not want to be Hindi film star. When I was 17, I came back to India after finishing my studies. I dreamt of becoming a writer then. So, I met Ranbir (Kapoor) who was assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali in those days. It was then that SLB offered me a film, but I said ‘NO’ to it.”

She further said, “I was like ‘why should I play the puppet when I could be the puppeteer?’ At that time, I wanted to change the world my way but it all went down the drain when I became an actress.”

On her equation with SLB, she said, “I used to fight him a lot while working with him. Even I have a fiery temper. So I would yell at him and vice versa. But, now looking at his health, as he is old now, I have stopped making him angry. He bought me my first designer bag – Louis Vuitton. And I along with other ADs bought him his dog.”

When asked, whether her career has moulded the way she wanted, here’s why Sonam’s reply was:

“Well yes. People respect my intelligence – at least I think so. I have done some mistakes but then who does not commit mistakes?”

“What are those mistakes,” quizzed Niranjan.

“I don’t want to talk about them,” Sonam said.

“It does not appear as if something bad has happened to you. You look so protected,” Niranjan said.

To which, Sonam’s answered was, “Well, some bad things have happened to me. But it is just that I don’t like painting a sory picture of myself to gain public sympathy.”

“And others do that…?” Niranjan continued with his cross-questioning.

“I don’t know. You tell me. Well, you see, I never took a penny from my father. But people just hear and see what they want to hear and see. And I can’t change much about it,” Sonam said.

Talking about the pressure that actresses feel these days for not looking stylish at all times, Sonam said that she is not to be blamed for putting her contemporaries in the hit list of Fashion Police.

“I am just being myself! I am as confortable in a jeans and T-shirt as I am in a courtier gown,” stated the ‘Khoobsurat’ actress.

The conversation got heated up when Niranjan asked Sonam about how she dealt with the not-so-good business done by ‘Bewakoofiyaan’.

Sonam replied that instead of dwelling of the positives journalists have the habit of looking at picking on her for her weaknesses. She said that she has seen journos ask that sort of questions for years and she is completely OK with them. She further said that people see me as a pretty, dressed up girl born with a silver spoon and do fault-finding with her.

The discussion then went on to Sonam’s fascination for perfect love stories that are found in romantic classics such as ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and her inclination towards getting too emotional in a romantic relationship.

“When I am in a relationship, I am like ‘This is it’. And I am completely into it. My taste in literature had ruined me. I am constantly looking or Mr. Knightley or Mr. Darcy and I feel that it is not going to happen,” said she.

Sonam also added that her perfect man will be someone who is honest and love her the way she is. She also gave the example of Julia Roberts’ movie ‘Notting Hill’.
