Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh: Sonali Bendre’s new fictional endeavour to be ‘The Good Wife’!
Ekta Kapoor’s new show – Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh – has come as a breath of fresh air in the realm of Indian small screen fiction where saas-bahu and some run-off-the-mill stories rule the roost.
The show is loosely based on popular American series – The Good Wife. And we think that the gorgeous Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre fits into the shoes of the lead character of the show.
To begin with, ‘Ajeeb Dastan…’ is about a family bound and loving woman called Shobha Sachdev (Sonali Bendre) who is leading a blissful life with her perfect husband Samarth Sachdev (Harsh Chhaya), her two children and her MIL. However, after 9 years of marriage, the dream of having being blessed with a perfect life gets over on her 9th wedding anniversary party, when her politician husband gets arrested for selling confidential defense information to the traitors. On top of that, his multiple illegal affairs go viral on the web and TV that bursts Shobha’s dream of an ideal matrimonial tie-up.
Somehow, Shobha gathers strength to move on in life and bear the financial and domestic burden on her dainty shoulders. She finds it hard to start life afresh owing to the fact that she had been a homemaker for many years. Yet, with her determination she finds a job as an assistant to Vikram (Apurva Agnihotri) in his coffee shop. And then begins the unfolding of events that shape up Shobha’s rest of the life.
Now that sounds intriguing, no? Going by the first few episodes of the show, we liked how non-dramatic and original Sonali’s performance is. On the other hand, Apurva’s character is that of a grumpy man, blunt and good-hearted man who is dreaming to go grow his business.
How these two extremely opposite character meet and deal with each other forms the rest of the story. Let’s see how the storyline unravels. Till our next scoop, stay tuned!
