Just when we were thinking that Akbar and his son Salim's equation is changing for the better, they are at loggerheads once again due to a new problem.

In the latest episode of Jodha Akbar, we saw Jalaluddin Akbar crowning Salima Begum’s son Murad as the King of India much to everyone’s shock. Jalal does so to fool the King of Iran who was unwilling to allow the people of India to visit Mecca and Madina as in his view Jalal had insulted Islam by marrying a non-Muslim woman (Jodha) who did not even change her religion after marriage.

Salim and Jodha get very upset with Jalal’s decision to crown Murad. Salim storms out of the palace not out of jealousy but disgust at Jalal’s betrayal. Meanwhile, Murad feels guilty of “taking-away” the crown from Salim who was more deserving.

At the Hojra, the royal women – Jodha, Rukaiya, Salima and Hamida Banu Begum - worry for Salim and debate on the lingering issue. Driven by her strong instinct to speak bitter truths, Rukaiya remarks had Jodha changed her religion after marriage, Salim’s rights as the heir would not have been messed with.

Jalal hears the conversations and rebukes Rukaiya to never advocate about changing religion as none in his kingdom has been forced to do so. However, Rukaiya’s words leave their deep impact on Jodha’s intellect.

Later, at the behest of Rahim and other well-wishers, Jalal visits Salim to come clean about his decision to crown Murad. Salim, in an inebriated state, behaves poorly with Jalal and refuses to believe him. Jalal gets furious to witness Salim's bad temper. He says that nothing else but Salim’s addiction to alcohol which makes him lose his mind, could snatch away the throne from him. Therefore, Jalal leaves Salim and decides to speak to him when he comes to his senses.
