Hot New Trend: Shows around Muslims
After a plethora of TV shows that have been plotted around the villages of Rajasthan and Haryana, the upcoming new trend for Indian soap operas is having an Islamic backdrop. What we love is that these shows don’t revolve around the done to death subject of Muslims terrorizing the world, being violent or subjugating women.
The first show of this trend was the Qubool Hai on Zee TV that started almost a year ago. It became very popular with not just the housewives, but also the Indian TV-viewing youth. It’s a show about a Muslim family living in Bhopal, their happiness, their dramas, their trials and tribulations.
The second one in line is the Colors show ‘Beintehaan’ launching on the 30 December. Set in Bhopal (10 points for spotting the similarity!), the show is about the love story of two headstrong Muslim individuals. It’s been shot like a film and not a run-of-the-mill TV soap according to the lead actor Harshad Arora.
It’s a fresh, new background but we really hope we can see more of those gorgeous Muslim faces to fawn over!
