Jodha Akbar: Salim caught by Jodha in red-light area, agrees to marry Man Bai!
Till now, we had witnessed Salim getting devastated with Jodha and Jalal’s decision to get him married to Amer’s princess Man Bai. He buys time from Jodha to think about it and leaves for a red light area.
So here we go on to narrate what happened lately in the series.
Jodha decides to find out what’s going on in Salim’s head. Her brother Bhagwan Das makes preparations for Man and Salim’s ‘Wagdan’ ritual to officially fix their marriage.
Salim spends the whole night in the company of prostitutes and laments how painfully his destiny is unfolding. He grieves getting married to a woman who he does not love and hating a woman who he once truly loved.
On the other hand, Anarkali picks up the ghunghroos and decides to be a professional dancer. Her mother Zil stops her from taking up the profession as dancers are not held in good regard by the society. Anarkali adamantly turns down Zil’s request and says that she will dance at Salim’s engagement and shall ask for a unique gift for her performance.
Jodha learns from Murad that Salim has been visiting the red light area. She gets appalled to hear the news and goes out looking for her spoilt son. She arrives to the brothel with Moti Bai and reprimands Salim severely. Jodha also commands Salim to mend his ways and show up at the ‘Wagdan’ ceremony or else she would expose his dark deeds to all.
Jodha returns to the palace and opens up to Bhagwan Das about Salim’s actions. She tells him that Salim does not deserve Man Bai ‘coz he is sleeping with the prostitutes. Bhagwan says that in any case the marriage should not be cancelled as it would cause much harm to Man Bai’s dignity and Salim’s midnight rendezvous with prostitutes do not matter much as Kings and heirs are often into this habit.
On the other hand, a heartbroken Daniyal remembers the promise he gave to Man Bai and approaches Salim to have a word with him about marrying Man. Salim gets frustrated with Daniyal’s plea and calls out to God.
To Jodha and Rukaiya’s surprise, at the ‘Wagdan’ ritual, Salim turns up dressed appropriately. He promises to marry Man Bai without any fuss.
Jodha goes to her room looking worried and Rukaiya follows her. The vicious Begum asks Jodha about the cause of her worry. Jodha shares that she is not able to understand how come Salim agreed to marry Man Bai so soon.
