Jodha Akbar: Jalal slaps and chastises Salim for taking opium; A renowned Astrologer makes an ominous prophecy for Jalal!
In the latest episode of Jodha Akbar, Begum Jodha questions Salim about staying away from the grand announcement of his wedding. Due to the dizzying effect of the opium he had consumed, Salim behaves in an irritable manner and does not give the right answer to Jodha’s question. Soon an announcement is made about Jalal’s arrival. Jodha worries about Jalal getting mad at Salim if he sees him in such state. To save Salim from Jalal's ire, she does an act to give an impression that Salim is unwell. Jalal arrives in Salim’s chamber and takes note of Salim's state. As soon as Jalal leaves, Jodha says she lied for the first time ‘coz she did not want her husband to blast her son. Salim angrily asks Jodha why she lied at all and it was not needed. He rushes after Jalal and tells him that he hates his face and even the palace that binds him. Jalal gets infuriated with Salim’s rude behaviour and makes out that he has ingested opium. The Emperor slaps him hard and chastises him for indulging in drugs despite being the heir. Jodha’s face registers an expression of shock as she hears Jalal’s interpretation. She fails to believe that Salim is still addicted to opium and calls a doctor immediately.
The doctor examines Salim and says that he did not consume opium but is down with high fever. Jalal and Jodha get relieved to discover the truth from the doctor. Later, it is revealed that Rukaiya Begum bribed the doctor to lie about Salim’s disheveled state so that she could go about using him to fulfill her selfish motive.
Later, Jodha comes to know from Moti Bai that it was Anarkali to whom Salim went while the grand event was on in the palace. Jodha summons Anarkali and interrogates her to get to the root of the matter. Anarkali, however, refrains from speaking the truth and tells Jodha that Salim only hates her. Jodha does not get convinced with Anarkali’s reply and is left wondering what the real cause of the commotion is.
On the other hand, Jalal sends his courtiers to make a fortress on a piece of land where a certain community lives. The people residing on the land ask the courtiers to back off and put their foot down on the orders by reasoning that their ancestors and saints are buried beneath the land.
The courtiers try explaining to the commoners that the fortress should be built to save them from the enemies. However, the people refuse to budge and accept the diktat.
A miracle occurs as the King’s men step on the sacred land to till it. Strong winds start blowing pointing towards an impending danger. On the other hand, a certain renowned soothsayer visits the Agra palace to see Jalal and Jodha. He predicts that the next 12 months shall be tough for Jalal and he should watch his ways. Jalal does not buy into the astrologer’s prophecy and insults him severely. Jalal even boasts about his might and takes pride in his bloated ego. Jodha apologises to the astrologer on Jalal’s behalf and asks for a solution for the upcoming troubles. The man asks Jodha to stand by Jalal at all costs and mentions that the Emperor’s own people will result in his doom. Jodha gets extremely worried hearing these ominous words.
