Jodha Akbar: Jalal to marry Atifa on Eid. Jodha shocked, Rukaiya furious!
The Mughal emperor has lately made an announcement that he will be exchanging marital vows with Atifa even if she does not get divorced by her husband.
After returning to Agra with Jodha, Jalal inquired about his new ‘love’ Atifa and went on to meet her. He gets worried to see Atifa in tears and asks the reason for her sad state. Atifa says that the women of Harem have been telling her that after Jodha’s kidnapping incident, he won’t come back to him and will get closer to his Rajput begum again.
Jalal asks her not to pay heed to what others say about him and wipes off her tears. He tells her that he had loved Jodha earlier but her stubborn nature does not let him live in peace. Therefore, he seeks solace in Atifa’s company.
Atifa listens to the conversation between Jalal and Atifa and thinks about warning Jodha about it. Even Salima Begum meets Jodha and asks her to speak to Jalal as only she has the power to bring him back from Atifa. Zakira too enters Jodha’s chamber and tells her that there is something wrong with Atifa’s intentions.
At the dargah, Atifa gets rebuked by the priest and he tells her that she is committing adultery in the Holy month of Ramadan. Reprimanded by the priest, Atifa goes seeking Jalal to share her dilemma.
While Jalal is discussing serious political matters with his courtiers, Atifa signals him to meet her in private. Jalal comes out of the court and scolds Atifa for disturbing the meeting for her petty wishes.
Atifa sobs and asks Jalal to kill her as she can’t bear people chiding her for being unchaste. On the other hand, at the court, Adham tries spreading bad word about Jalal by discussing with everyone how harem’s matters are being discussed in the court now.
Jalal enters the court and announces his wedding with Atifa. This sends waves of shock in every nick and cranny of the court.
Zakira informs Jodha that Jalal has decided to marry Atifa on Eid. Jodha is puzzled to hear this news and goes out to meet Jalal.
While on her way, Jodha bumps into a fuming Rukaiya and gets involved in an argument.
Rukaiya tells her that she won’t let the marriage happen as she is the special wife of the emperor and no one can take away this right from her. Jodha says that Rukaiya has always cared for her status rather than caring for her husband. Rukaiya, in turn, answers that Jodha has always thought about changing Jalal with her love. And she can see now what the consequences of changing him are.
Rukaiya leaves Jodha in a state of worry and deep thought.
This is surely a weird decision taken by Jalal. But we doubt if the marriage will really happen. Will Jodha and Rukaiya succeed in stopping the nikaah? Let’s wait and watch.
