Jodha Akbar: Jalal gets crops burnt to kill the strange insects; Haider creates misunderstanding between Salim & Anarkali!
The whole Mughal Empire has been plagued by the venom of strange insects that are nothing but a personification of the Almighty’s ire.
Till now we had seen the insects spreading out to the city of Agra and making life impossible for the natives. So much so that the insects infected the food as well. Jalal initiated a head-on confrontation with this issue in the recent episode by ordering his special wife, Salima Begum, to take charge of the royal kitchen and ensure that the food for the common people is cooked in the palace.
Despite Salima’s strict vigilance, the insects poison the food being prepared in the royal kitchen. The people consume the infected food and fall miserably ill. As a desperate attempt to salvage the situation, Jalal accept the wicked Shah’s advice to burn the crops of the farmers. Jodha and Birbal counsel Jalal against taking such an extreme step and that too without taking the farmers in his confidence.
Vast fields of crops are burnt before the eyes of the farmers despite their protest. Jalal feels sorry for the farmers and witnesses the damage being done from the terrace of his palace. He gets the news about farmers rebelling against the decision and decides to speak to them. Jodha advises him to avoid a face-off with the farming community as they may harm him in a fit of rage. Jalal, as usual, overconfidently neglects Jodha’s sage counsel and leaves the palace to finish his business.
On the other hand, Anarkali gets shocked to learn that Prince Salim has not offered any financial relief to the dance bar. She drops in at the palace to discuss the matter with Salim. The evil Haider runs into Anarkali and plays his card to create tension between the two lovers by telling her that Salim is busy with work and hence cannot see her.
Anarkali gets puzzled with the whole affair and leaves the palace.
Also, Mirza Hakim learns from his spy that equations have indeed soured between Jalal and Man Singh. After having his suspicion cleared, Mirza decided to join hands with Man Singh. Both of them make a secret plan to attack Jalal to overthrow him from his rule in the coming days.
Will Jalal give up on his pride for his people’s sake? Will Haider and other traitors working closely with the Emperor continue silently destroying Jalal and his family?
